GO 4598 "Silver Bullet for Dark Matter" Data Release: Imaging, Photometry, Slit Spectroscopy, and the Lens model

Rihtaršič et al. 2026

This is the public data release of the GO 4598 program ("Silver Bullet for Dark Matter"), a JWST Cycle GO 3 program targeting the Bullet Cluster (1E 0657-56) with NIRCam and NIRSpec prism. This release contains NIRCam and HST imaging, PSFs and PSF-matched imaging, a photometric catalogue with photometric and spectroscopic redshifts and lensing magnifications. The program covers both subclusters of the Bullet Cluster, with 7 wide and 1 medium NIRCam filters from 0.9 - 4.4 microns. The imaging depth, reduction and data products are similar to CANUCS DR1 (refer to CANUCS DR1 for further details). The release also contains 271 NIRSpec prism spectra and redshift measurements up to z~11 as well as lens-modelling data products.

The data are described in Rihtaršič et al. (2026), where they are used to construct an updated strong-lensing model of the Bullet Cluster. They have also been used in several other studies (e.g., Bradač et al. 2025 , Tripodi et al. 2025 , Bradač et al. 2026 , Felicioni et al. 2026 , Cornil-Baïotto et al. 2026 ).
